We are proud to inform you that our Machinist Non-partisan Political League (MNPL) is actively working to ensure that the voices of our members are heard at every level of government. Our commitment to advocating for the rights and interests of Machinists is unwavering. We would also like to highlight that our MNPL committees are not only active at the national level but are also locally engaged. Specifically, we have committees located at Local Lodge 1487 in Chicago. Our Legislative Committee is dedicated to addressing local issues, supporting pro-worker legislation, and ensuring that our members’ needs are met through political action. We encourage all members to get involved and stay informed about our efforts. Together, we can make a significant impact. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, are dedicated to advancing legislation that protects and promotes workers’ rights. Through our Local Lodge 1487 legislative committee, we actively engage in shaping policies that benefit our members across various sectors. Our presence on Capitol Hill ensures that the voices of machinists are heard, advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, and job security. Rest assured; we remain committed to tirelessly advocating on behalf of all our members.

June/July 2024 Legislative Newsletter
Good day Brothers and Sisters, We have several things from this past month and upcoming in July that we are excited for.
Earlier this month was the IAM Legislative Conference in Washington DC which you can read more about in several articles on the Grand Lodge website:
As the election season continues members are encouraged to reach out to the representatives in their districts to offer support, volunteer, make their voices heard before election day, and to remind them of the things important to us: Groceries, Gas, and Grandma.
Coming up in July we have two events scheduled for the members. On July 18 we have an educational session scheduled at the Local Lodge which will cover topics about the 2024 election that are important to members. Information for the event will be posted on the locals website.
On July 25 the Local Lodge is hosting an ice cream social where we will have a Get Out the Vote table to help make sure members are registered to vote and know their polling locations.
Finally, more and more Senators and House Representatives continue to sign on to a letter calling for Delta Airlines to remain neutral as their workers decide for themselves whether they want a union or not. We encourage all elected officials to support this letter, especially in Illinois where we have enshrined in our state constitution the right to organize and we believe that all workers have this right and should be free to exercise it without coercion.
Thank you all brothers and sisters for all you do, if you have any questions, suggestions, or topics you want to bring to the committee please reach out to me or through the local lodge.
