Henry Klein began his career with United Airlines in 1987, retiring in 2022.  In 2005, while still working at United, he was approached by an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) representative about becoming an EAP peer for Local 1487.

Recognizing the importance of the program, Henry accepted the role and dedicated himself to helping United employees navigate personal challenges, guiding them toward the assistance they needed.

After retiring in 2022, Henry joined the Local Lodge 1487 Retirees Club.  Observing the unique struggles retirees and their families often face, he realized there was still much he could offer, particularly in providing support for aging members.

With over 20 years of EAP experience, Henry approached Kris Treder of EAP Midwest Territory with the idea of extending EAP services to retirees.

District Lodges 141 and 142 supported the initiative, recognizing the importance of helping their often-overlooked retired members. Henry became the first retiree within the IAM’s District 141-142 EAP group to take on this responsibility.

Henry Klein continues to offer his expertise and support, remaining a valuable resource for members seeking guidance through personal challenges. His dedication ensures that retirees have someone they can turn to for help during
life’s difficult times.
